Our Story
Backcountry Dental was founded in 2020 with a mission to provide high-quality, compassionate dental care in a comfortable, patient-first environment. In 2025, Dr. Hillary Berry retired and personally selected Dr. Dakota Baker, an Idaho native and graduate of Creighton University School of Dentistry, as her successor. He brings a passion for both advanced dental care and hometown service, continuing the legacy of excellence while introducing new innovations to better serve our community.

What to expect your first visit
We know that visiting the dentist—especially for the first time—can be intimidating. That’s why at Backcountry Dental, we go out of our way to make your experience feel relaxed, comfortable, and personal. When you arrive you will be greeted and treated just like family.
During your first visit, Dr. Baker will take the time to get to know you, review your dental history, perform a thorough exam, and discuss your goals for your smile. Dr. Dakota Baker, DDS
With a lifelong dream of living and raising his family in the area, Dr. Baker was thrilled to take over ownership of Backcountry Dental in 2025. As a local Kellogg resident, he is proud to call this community home alongisde his wife and brand new baby!

Northern Idaho is the perfect fit for Dr. Baker and his family. Not just for its welcoming people, but also for its incredible access to the outdoors. As avid dirtbikers, mountain bikers, skiers, snowmobilers, and all-around outdoor enthusiasts, they are thrilled to live in a place where adventure is right outside the front door.
