Gentle Cleanings
Gentle Cleanings
Importance of Routine Dental Visits
Experience gentle, thorough cleanings that help keep your smile healthy, bright, and comfortable. Dental cleanings are designed not just to remove plaque and tartar buildup, but also to protect your teeth and gums from more serious issues down the road. Routine checkups and cleanings are a key part of preventive care, allowing your dentist to detect early signs of cavities, gum disease, and other oral health concerns before they require more complex and expensive treatment.

Regular visits also give you the opportunity to ask questions, receive personalized advice, and stay on track with your overall dental wellness. Whether it’s been six months or a little longer, scheduling a cleaning is a simple but powerful step toward maintaining a healthy smile for life.
Fillings
Tooth-colored, or composite, fillings
Tooth-colored (composite) fillings offer both health and cosmetic advantages. Unlike traditional metal fillings, they blend naturally with your teeth—so when you talk, smile, or yawn, no one will notice you've had dental work.
They bond directly to the tooth structure, creating a secure fit that feels more natural when chewing. In contrast, older metal fillings don't adhere as well, are more invasive, and were more likely to cause cracks in the tooth over time. Composite fillings are a safer choice, avoiding metals like mercury that have raised concerns in recent years.

Root Canals

Root Canals
Have a hurting tooth? We can save it!
A root canal is a common dental procedure used to treat infection or damage within the pulp of a tooth—the soft tissue inside that contains nerves and blood vessels. If you're experiencing:
-
Severe tooth pain
-
Sensitivity to hot or cold
-
Swelling
-
Notice a darkening of the tooth
-
A pimple-like bump on your gums
-
Sharp pain when biting down
you may need a root canal. During treatment, the infected pulp is gently removed, the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed, and a crown is usually placed to restore strength and function. With years of experience, Dr. Baker uses advanced techniques and modern technology to ensure your root canal is as painless, efficient, and comfortable as possible—helping you get relief!

Why choose a root canal?
-
Comfortable and low-stress
While the symptoms leading up to a root canal can be painful, the procedure itself is typically no more uncomfortable than getting a standard dental filling. -
Efficient treatment
In many cases, a root canal can be completed in just one visit, depending on the condition of the tooth and the complexity of the case. -
A better option than extraction
Whenever possible, preserving your natural tooth is the best choice for your long-term dental health, function, and appearance, which is something Dr. Baker always prioritizes.

Comprehnsive Exams
Your personal roadmap to optimum oral health
At Backcountry Dental, a comprehensive dental exam is the foundation of your personalized oral health care. During this thorough evaluation, our team carefully examines your teeth, gums, jaw, and overall mouth health to identify any issues early—before they develop into bigger problems. The exam includes a detailed inspection for cavities, gum disease, oral cancer screening, bite and jaw alignment checks, as well as an evaluation of existing dental work.

Regular comprehensive exams are essential because they help catch potential concerns in their earliest stages, saving you from more extensive and costly treatments down the line. Early detection allows for simpler, less invasive solutions that keep your smile healthy and comfortable. Whether you’re experiencing symptoms or simply maintaining your oral health, these exams provide valuable insight into your dental wellness and guide the creation of a customized care plan.

Patients who make comprehensive exams a routine part of their dental care often enjoy stronger, healthier teeth and gums, fewer emergency visits, and a greater sense of confidence in their smile. At Backcountry Dental, we focus on making every exam comfortable and non-judgmental, ensuring you feel empowered about your oral health and the steps needed to maintain it for years to come.

Extractions
Extractions
Importance of Routine Dental Visits
Tooth extractions are sometimes necessary to protect your overall oral health—whether due to severe decay, infection, or overcrowding. Removing a problematic tooth can prevent further damage and relieve pain, making it an important part of many treatment plans. At Backcountry Dental, we prioritize your comfort throughout the process by using gentle techniques and modern anesthesia options. Plus, we offer affordable, flexible payment plans to ensure that essential care like extractions is accessible to everyone in our community. After an extraction, we’ll also discuss options to replace the missing tooth, such as dental implants or bridges, to restore your smile’s function and appearance.
Pediatric Dentistry
Watching growing smiles thrive
At Backcountry Dental, we strive to make every dental visit a positive and educational experience for your child. Our caring team takes time to build a personal connection and earn your child’s trust, helping them feel comfortable in the dental chair. During checkups, Dr. Baker monitors your child’s oral development and growth to ensure their teeth and jaws are progressing healthily. Gentle cleanings are paired with easy-to-understand explanations and practical tips, empowering your little one to develop strong habits that help prevent cavities.

Dental Sealants
Children’s molars and premolars have deep grooves that are prone to cavity formation due to trapped food and bacteria. To protect these vulnerable areas, we apply dental sealants—a thin, protective plastic coating that acts as a barrier against decay. Sealants can prevent cavities, offering long-lasting protection while your child is still mastering proper brushing techniques.

Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride is essential for strengthening tooth enamel, especially for children whose primary teeth have thinner enamel and are more susceptible to decay. After cleaning, we apply a concentrated fluoride treatment to reinforce enamel and help prevent cavities between visits. This added layer of protection is a simple but powerful step in maintaining your child’s healthy smile.

Child Fillings
If your child develops a cavity, we use strong, tooth-colored composite fillings that restore the tooth. These fillings not only restore function and prevent further decay but also maintain a natural appearance, helping your child smile confidently without any visible signs of dental work.

Athletic Mouthguards
For children active in sports, custom athletic mouth-guards are a must-have to protect against dental injuries. Unlike store-bought options, our custom-fitted mouth-guards provide a secure and comfortable fit tailored to your child’s mouth. Whether they play contact sports like football or non-contact sports like soccer, a mouthguard helps reduce the risk of broken teeth and other oral injuries.

Backcountry Dental is proud to support your child’s oral health through every stage of growth with gentle care, preventive treatments, and personalized attention. Our goal is to help your child build a lifetime of healthy, happy smiles.

Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom Teeth Removal
Importance of Routine Dental Visits
If you’re in your late teens or early twenties—or have a child in that age group—it may be time for the wisdom teeth to be removed. Historically, these third molars served a purpose by replacing teeth lost to decay or wear. But with modern dental care, most people no longer need them, and in many cases, there simply isn’t enough room in the mouth for them to emerge properly. This can lead to crowding, pain, or alignment issues. When that happens, wisdom tooth removal is often the best option to protect your oral health.
If you think it might be time to have wisdom teeth evaluated, schedule a consultation today to see if extraction is the right step.

Implants
Implants
Transform your smile and replace missing teeth
When it comes to replacing missing teeth, dental implants are the gold standard. They offer unmatched strength and durability—and with proper care, they can last a lifetime. Best of all, implants look, feel, and function just like natural teeth, giving you a confident, fully restored smile.

Just like natural teeth, implants require consistent at-home maintenance. By following good oral hygiene habits and regular dental checkups, you can help ensure your implants stay healthy, strong, and long-lasting.

Dental Crowns & Bridges
Recapture a Natural-Looking and Functioning Smile
Dental Crowns Restore Damaged Teeth
A dental crown is a custom-made cap—typically crafted from porcelain or zirconia—designed to restore the strength, shape, and appearance of a damaged tooth. When decay progresses beyond what a filling can repair, a crown is often the best solution to preserve the remaining tooth structure and protect it from further damage.

Crowns are also ideal when a tooth is too worn, misshapen, or discolored to be treated with a veneer. Additionally, after a root canal, the inner structure of the tooth becomes more fragile, and placing a crown helps reinforce and protect it from fractures or potential extraction.
The procedure involves carefully reshaping the tooth to create a stable foundation for the crown. We take precise digital impressions to ensure an accurate fit, then place a temporary crown while your custom restoration is being crafted at a dental lab. Once complete, the final crown is securely placed, restoring both function and aesthetics to your smile.

Dental Bridges Replace Missing Teeth
A dental bridge is a fixed dental restoration designed to fill the gap left by one or more missing teeth. This treatment involves placing crowns on the teeth adjacent to the empty space, which serve as anchors for the artificial tooth (called a pontic).

Dental bridges help restore your ability to chew and protecting the neighboring teeth from shifting. However, bridges do not prevent bone loss in the area beneath the missing tooth since there is no root to stimulate the jawbone.

Veneers

Veneers
Transforming Smiles and Boosting Confidence
Among the many cosmetic dentistry options, veneers stand out as a popular choice to improve the shape and color of your teeth. Porcelain veneers are thin, durable shells that are bonded to the front of you natural teeth. Each veneer is custom-crafted to blend perfectly with your existing smile, creating a balanced and natural look—even if only some of your teeth are treated. Made from durable, stain-resistant porcelain, they provide long-lasting results with minimal alteration to your natural teeth. With veneers, you can boost your confidence with the bright, flawless smile you’ve always wanted.

Who Is a Candidate for Porcelain Veneers?
-
Teeth with minor misalignment or small chips
-
Slightly irregularly shaped teeth
-
Teeth affected by severe discoloration or stubborn stains
-
Teeth that appear disproportionately small or large
-
Unwanted gaps or uneven spacing between teeth
-
Front teeth that have been worn down over time

Our Simplified Veneer Process
Your veneer journey begins with a thorough consultation, where our team carefully evaluates your teeth to determine if veneers are the best option for you. If you decide to proceed, we’ll start by gently removing a thin layer of enamel from the front of your teeth. In some cases, no drilling is even required. Next, we’ll take detailed impressions to create custom veneers that perfectly complement your smile.

In some cases, temporary veneers may be placed while your permanent ones are being crafted. We prioritize your comfort and a natural look, performing a trial fitting to ensure perfect alignment before securely bonding your porcelain veneers. The result is a stunning, confident smile tailored just for you.

Dentures
Long-Lasting, Natural-Looking Tooth Replacements
Despite advances in dental technology, dentures remain a popular choice because they are a cost-effective option to replace missing teeth. If you are missing several teeth or have teeth that are too damaged to save, dentures might be the ideal solution for you. To determine if dentures are right for you, schedule a consultation with us. We’ll evaluate your oral health and discuss your options.

How Dentures Work
After teeth are extracted, it usually takes several months for the gums and underlying bone to heal and reshape. Once healing is sufficient, impressions are taken to design your custom dentures. This process typically takes 3-4 weeks, during which you’ll visit the office regularly for fittings to ensure a comfortable and accurate fit. Immediate dentures can be placed the same day as extraction, but because the gums are still healing, they often require adjustments and are usually a temporary solution before conventional dentures are made.

Types of Dentures
-
Conventional dentures are created after the gums have fully healed, usually 8 to 12 weeks post-extraction. This three-step process ensures the best fit and durability. Dr. Baker's extensive experience and use of high-quality dental labs help provide dentures that look natural and fit comfortably.
-
Immediate Dentures: These dentures are made in advance and placed immediately after tooth removal, so patients don’t have to go without teeth during healing. However, because gums and bone shrink during healing, immediate dentures often require more adjustments. They are generally considered temporary, and Dr. Baker typically recommends conventional dentures or implants for longer-lasting results.
-
Partial dentures replace missing teeth while preserving your remaining healthy teeth. They consist of replacement teeth attached to a gum-colored plastic base and help prevent adjacent teeth from shifting. Well-made partials look natural, fit securely, and help maintain jaw structure. Dr. Baker's expertise ensures that your partial dentures provide both function and aesthetics.
-
Implant- Supported Dentures: If you’re tired of dentures that slip, rub, or limit what you can eat, implant-supported overdentures offer a secure, comfortable solution. Anchored to dental implants, they stay firmly in place so you can talk, eat, and smile with confidence. While they are a larger investment than traditional dentures, the improved stability, comfort, and long-term benefits make them well worth it. Many patients find they can enjoy more foods, speak more clearly, and maintain better jawbone health for years to come.

Teeth Whitening
Professional Teeth Whitening
Importance of Routine Dental Visits
Our teeth are designed for chewing, but over time, factors like the foods and drinks we consume, smoking, and certain medications can lead to staining or discoloration.

Depending on the kind of staining, it might be challenging to achieve effective whitening without professional treatment.

If you're looking for a faster, more reliable way to brighten your smile—beyond what over-the-counter whitening strips or trays can offer—you could be a great candidate for professional in-office whitening.
Other Services
Our full list of services and offerings does not end there. Backcountry Dental is a full service dental clinic that can take care of any of your dental needs. Some of our additional services include:
Fluoride Treatments
Strong oral health starts with prevention. Dental sealants are a simple yet effective way to protect the back teeth, especially in children and teens—by covering the deep grooves of molars where food and bacteria tend to hide. Fluoride treatments add another layer of defense by strengthening tooth enamel and helping to prevent decay in patients of all ages. Together, these treatments offer lasting protection for growing and adult smiles alike.

Emergency Service
Dental emergencies can happen at any time, and when they do, fast relief is essential. Whether you're experiencing severe tooth pain, a broken tooth, or another urgent dental issue, Dr. Dakota Baker offers 24/7 emergency care for patients in need. If you're in pain or dealing with a dental problem that just can't wait, you can contact our office anytime to be seen outside of regular hours. Emergency visits are available during regular office hours or after hours for an additional emergency fee, ensuring that you always get the prompt attention and care you deserve.

Custom Nightguards & Sports Mouthguards
Whether it’s teeth grinding at night or high-impact sports during the day, protecting your smile matters. A custom nightguard can cushion and protect teeth from damage caused by bruxism (teeth grinding), while a well-fitted mouthguard is essential for preventing injuries during athletic activities. At Backcountry Dental, we craft both nightguards and athletic mouthguards tailored to fit comfortably and securely.

Relaxed, Comfortable Visits with Nitrous Oxide
Feeling anxious about visiting the dentist is completely normal, but we’re here to help you feel at ease. For patients who need a little extra comfort during their appointments, we offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas). This mild sedation option helps reduce anxiety and create a calm, stress-free experience from start to finish.
Non-Surgical Gum Treatment
Periodontitis, commonly known as gum disease, can seriously impact your oral health if left untreated. It typically develops from inadequate oral hygiene, which allows plaque to accumulate on your teeth. When plaque isn’t removed, it hardens beneath the gum-line into tartar, leading to inflammation and infection that harms the tissues supporting your teeth. Signs of periodontitis include bleeding gums, gum recession, bone loss, and tooth mobility. At our office, we offer a range of effective treatments tailored to manage and prevent gum disease. Our caring team is dedicated to helping you find the best solution to protect your gums and maintain your smile’s health.

Dental Bonding
If you’re dealing with a chipped tooth, tiny gaps, or minor flaws in your smile, dental bonding provides a quick and minimally invasive fix. Using a tooth-colored resin, our experienced dentists can reshape and refine your teeth to look natural and flawless—all in a single appointment.
Bonding is perfect for:
-
Repairing chips and fractures
-
Closing small spaces between teeth
-
Smoothing out uneven edges
-
Covering stains or discoloration
This affordable treatment offers an easy way to boost your smile’s appearance without the need for complex procedures—making it ideal for busy individuals and families on the go.

Bone Grafting
Bone grafting is a procedure that helps restore strength and volume to areas of the jawbone where bone loss has occurred. This technique is often necessary when the jaw lacks sufficient bone mass, such as after tooth extractions, due to gum disease, or prior to dental implant placement. By adding bone material, grafting preserves the jaw’s structure and provides a stable foundation, allowing your body to heal and rebuild naturally.
